Darklord's StoryChapter 1The night was filled with rain. The loud thunder was heard for miles and when the lighting flashed, it turned night into day. Deep in the forest stood an old, wooden cabin with a stone chimney towering over it. It had a small kitchen, one bedroom and a living room. The light from the fireplace could be seen through the windows and as the wind and rain howled, so too, did a women inside. She lay naked on the bed, legs propped up, her body covered in sweat. The pain she felt was like nothing else she had ever felt before including the birth of her first child. The contractions were non stop and with each, it got harder and harder to breath. From the minute the midwive got to the cabin, she knew something was wrong. When she realized the baby wouldn't come out, she told the women it would have to be pulled out, but the women was in such pain, she did not care. The midwive reached her hand inside and slowly pulled the baby out. But as the baby came out, the women let out a final scream and then went silent and still. Her breathing stopped and her body let out its waste. The women was dead. The midwive quickly cleaned out the babies mouth and tapped it on the bum and it started to cry. She cut the umbilical cord and wrapped the baby boy in a blanket to keep it warm. When the baby fell asleep, she laid it down in a small crib by the fire place. The midwive then put a blanket over the womens body and started to weep for her. Because of the storm, she would have to stay the night in the cabin and in the morning would go to the nearest village to let them know. What she would do with the baby though, she did not know. She sat down by the fire, looking at the baby while he slept. As she watched the baby sleep, she had a strange feeling wash over her. This was unlike any other baby she had seen in all her life. Although it looked and acted like any other baby, there was something about him that made him different. She could feel it in her bones, to her soul, but was not sure if it was a good feeling or a bad one. She made up a small bed on the floor near the fire for herself, but knew she would not be able to sleep, for the rain beat loudly against the cabin and the thunder didn't seem to be quieting down.
After 2000 years, it was finally free from its prison. Free to roam the lands and finally take its rightful place as ruler of this planet. It would enslave the habitants of Tantina and destroy anything that opposed it. But for now, it needed energy and rest. It had taken almost all of its strength to break free. It started to search for a perfect place to rest and build its strength back up. It didn't take long, as it found a dark cave deep inside the volcano. It had found its new home. Inside the cave was the smell of sulpher and ash. There were small rivers of lava that flowed below the mountain, waiting to be unleashed onto the lands and set fire to the planet. The inside was so hot, it would burn the flesh of any living thing. The perfect place to hide and build its strength. As the night slowly passed, it realized it was hungry and set out for the nearest village to feast on.
As the midwive sat on the chair, with the baby in her arms, rocking back and forth, she noticed a small mark on the babies arm. It was an odd shape, like a half moon with something wraped around it. "Thats a funny birthmark" the midwive said to herself. She was an older women, in her late 40s, early 50s. She had been a midwive for as long as she could remember and had seen many birthmarks, but this one was the most defined she had ever seen, almost like it was drawn on his arm. It was a dark colour, but wasn't very big. The women just shook her shoulders and continued to rock the baby back and forth. She watched the baby as she rocked, and notice his eyes were a very dark red, almost black. This was something she had never seen before in her entire life. She didn't know what to make of it, but for some reason, she felt safe with this baby. It was a very strange feeling. "Must be coming down with a cold I am" she said to herself. When the baby finally fell back asleep, she layed him down in his crib. She put a log on the fire and then laid down on the couch and went to sleep. |
